Yasuhiro Tanaka Born November 16, 1967, in Tokyo. Winner of the 1989 and 1991 All Japan Sambo Championships in the Senior 74kg category. Represented Japan at the World Sambo Championships for five consecutive years from 1987 to 1991, achieving a highest placement of 4th in 1988. Placed 3rd at the 1988 Karinin International Tournament and 4th at the 1989 World Cup. Tanaka is recognized as a pure “Samboist,” distinct from judo or wrestling backgrounds, and is renowned for his expertise and instruction in ground techniques and joint locks, ranking among the top in Japan. He serves as the Executive Director of the NPO Defense Plan Sambo Federation and is the head coach of the Martial Arts Department at the Japan Wellness Sports Specialized College.
